STOCK TO SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE
Each participant is given access to a simulated online trading account where they will be able to leverage their starting capital ($100,000) and independently make investment decisions to buy and sell stocks and mutual funds. (No real money is invested.) The goal is to amass more assets in their account than any other participant. This challenge is a risk-free opportunity for students to gain a working understanding and appreciation for the daily “ups and downs” of the market. The program is quite simple and takes little time away from classroom studies.
Game play is hosted by the third party site, www.stockmarketgame.com. The Stock Market Game is an educational program of the Securities Industry and Financial Market Association (SIFMA Foundation). This online simulation of global capital markets engages students in the world of economics, investing and personal finance, and preparing them for financially independent futures. The Stock Market Game has reached 17 million students since its inception in 1977, and is free of charge to Michigan schools, (made possible by a grant from The Foundation for Investor Education).
Below you will find informational packets detaling how the game is played. Each packet was developed by www.stockmarketgame.com. Additional information can be found on the website once registered.
